Officers’ Reports:
Chart boards will be up next week.
I need to have anyone in the CL or ACB, ACS ACG books bring them to me so that I can update the charts. I will do as many as I can at meetings but if you can leave your book with me for the week that would be great. The club will hit 10 out of 10 for our Distinguished Club award.

I will be starting to have “new member meetings” with new members the week following their induction 30 minutes PRIOR to the club meeting (unless their is a conflict).

For the monthly schedule, my procedure will be:
1) On the first of the month (for instance February 1st for the March schedule), I will email the club. I
will be asking for:
a) does the member have any roles they want to be on the schedule for
b) will the member NOT be available for any of the weeks.

2) On the 15th of the month (for instance February 15th for the March schedule), I will post the schedule on Turbo Base and email the club.

3) As per the duties of my office, I am to keep the schedule current until 3 to 5 days before the meeting.
Since, as a club, the GE & TM usually start verifying the week before, I will be keeping the schedule current on Turbo Base until the night of the prior week’s meeting (for instance, the 2/1 schedule is now in their hands). When I read the schedule at the end of the meeting, the VPE’s job is finished for that week’s schedule. I will email the schedule to the GE & TM the next day.

Met Life Building Policy

We are guests in the Met Life Building and pay no fee to use it.

They could kick us out at any time, so please obey the rules.

RULES

#1. NEVER complain or argue with the guards. They are just doing their job. They report complaints to the building manager and we could lose our meeting rights over a member complaint. If you have any complaints, they should be brought into the meeting to be discussed, and not with the guard directly.

#2 The circular drive/parking area in front of the building is in fact a one way street. It should be entered from the right and exited from the left. No shortcut should be taken to obtain a parking space on the left, you must go all the way around to your space which will be on your right.

#3. When you sign in on the clip board, first print your name, then write your name, next initial TM to signify Toastmasters, and then put the time of day. When you leave sign out by simply putting the time of departure on the same line that you originally signed in on.

#4. No alcohol EVER.

Petrina:

I do not know what the problem was on Wed. night that caused a Toastmaster to ask “Ah come on, what rule is that breaking?,” but it seems that the security staff was trying to point out a matter of policy which they do not write but it is their job to enforce. We must keep in mind that we are guests in the building and do not contribute to the salary of the security or cleanup staff. They should be treated with courtesy and remember they are working at their job and doing as they are told.

Anyone interested in applying for the Accredited Speaker Award – here are the basic requirements. The entire sheet can be found at -

Eligibility
To qualify as an Accredited Speaker, an applicant must:

be a current member in good standing
be an
Able Toastmaster
OR
Advanced Toastmaster Bronze
OR
Advanced Communicator Bronze
Have had a minimum of 25 speaking engagements to non Toastmasters audiences within the past three years of application date
International officers or directors or candidates for those
offices are ineligible.
How to Apply
Send the following to World Headquarters:
Completed application form
Copies of five letters of acknowledgement from five clients
An audio presentation
Application fee

Audio Presentation
The presentation you submit with your application must:
be 15- to 45-minutes (not including introduction)
be an audio recording only — CD or standard size
cassette (NO video)
be spoken in English
be recorded before a live, non Toastmasters audience
not involve visual aids (slides, handouts, props, etc.)
Any applications that do not meet all of these requirements will not be accepted.

Kevin Wilson presented past President Kathy Denton with a gift for her service.

Steve Bettag presented two new applicants Thad James and Adam Calloway who were inducted as new members in the club. Thad James’s mentor will be Joanne Korba and Adam Calloways’s mentor will be Michael Marion.

Kathy Denton presented a possible addition to turbo base. Kathy wanted to add web introduction’s to turbo base so if members needed a last minute introduction for a meeting they could use it. Tom Terrific motioned for the optional web introduction on turbo base the motion was discussed, seconded, voted on and was passed.
Members who would like their introduction available on the SCTM website, just email a brief introduction to Kathy Denton.

Our Area Governor came for a visit and to announce the new officer conference at Twin Rivers. The new officer conference is on January 21st from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm.
